Distillerie et Domaines de Provence Noix de la Saint Jean

Heaven really is a place on Earth if you’ve got some of this in your glass. Goodness gracious. A glorious apéritif made with Dauphine green walnuts, which are crushed and macerated in a mixture of alcohol and wine for more than a week and blended with spices like cinnamon, peppercorns, cloves and nutmeg. Pours the colour of a red wine, with a big hit of sweet, spicy and ultimately balanced flavour and whole lot of length. Tidy amount of astringency and acidity keep things fresh and clean. The best way to drink it is neat and ice-cold, and while it is an excellent palate primer, you could just as easily enjoy it with cheese or a frangipani tart. Heck. Yes.
