Distillerie et Domaines de Provence Vermouth Forcalquier

Holy heck this is some rip-snortingly good gear here. An aromatised wine from a small outfit in Provence that’s been churning out absinthe, vermouths and liqueurs since 1898. So darn fragrant and expressive, densely packed with herbs and spices galore – mint, coriander, mugwort, aniseed, lemon balm, pink peppercorns, cinnamon and so forth. There’s a herbaceousness about it that’s almost Italianate/amaro-esque, but it’s lifted by all the sweet spice and the white wine’s background aromatics. Ooft. For best results, drink chilled and neat on the rocks, or top up with tonic and a slice of lime.
