Wonnarua Country.

The Shibuya Meltdown wine is typically a take on Hunter semillon, but this year sees skin fermented pecorino meet very light syrah in a wine that feels inspired by those of L’Anglore in very southern Rhone. And it makes the mark well. Richie Harkham is a dynamo, a Energiser bunny of the highest order, a philanthropist alongside good time guy and has shifted style guides for Hunter wines alongside. Great stuff.

This is a ripper drink. A few whirls up from a rosé but with fine, silty tannin, pleasing bitterness in fruitier notes, herbal nuance, sweet spice, a touch of game meat and some blood orange tang and freshness in tow. It’s compact and cool, beautifully poised and fresh, persistent in flavour and character and all up just a damn delight to get stuck into. Pelaverga zone, sure, L’Anglore of old too. Drink with gusto. Tops panical stuff. - The Wine Front
