Majama Wines Nero D'Avola in Kothi 2025

Majama Wines is the creative collaboration between partners Millie Shorter & Rojer Rathod. Rojer is from Gujarat, India and is an emerging wine maker in the Hunter Valley wine region. Millie is an Australian creative specialising in textile & graphic design.

​Majama means "happy", "enjoyment" or "fun" in Gujarati. We aim to express the simplicity of the fruit into the bottle with a minimal intervention approach to winemaking. We chose to focus our attention to lesser known, hot climate varietals, in particular those indigenous to Sicily. 

An aromatic, lighter bodied Nero D'Avola made from hand harvested fruit, sourced from the Murray Darling region of Victoria. Pressed & made lovingly on Wonnarua Country in the Hunter Valley region of NSW, and fermented in Indian clay pots known as Kothi.

Aromas of black cherry, plum, blackberry, and red currant with subtle  notes of violet & black pepper. Light to medium bodied, with flavours of ripe black cherry, plum and a hint of earthiness and spice. - Majami Wines
