Young vineyards here, well, from the last ten to fifteen years. All sangiovese. Kin to nebbiolo is the fruit from Massa Vecchia or at least how their sangiovese and winemaking approach seems to end up. Tuscany, but a wonderfully diverse expression.
Sour-sweet scents and flavours, a touch of cherry, some thick rose syrup notes but not that sweetness, just the rosy qualities, savoury spice, white mushroom and black pepper. Grippy, crushed rock tannins feel silty up front and pleasingly grumbly to finish. Sappy, fleshy and medium weight guzzler. - winefront.com.au
