Odinstal are one of Germany's finest producers of riesling. A biodynamic estate (established 2004), they have been highly sought after for their purity and complexity, minerality and interest. Cult wines, set in a unique pocket of Pfalz, high above the regular vineyard line, deep in a verdant forest.
This is a rolling blend of three vintages of skin contact riesling. A solera system, where older wines are bolstered by 'current vintage wines', is employed to do this. What we get is a seriously complex, layered and intense orange wine, but with the hallmark freshness and vitality of riesling pulsing through it. You like Radikon or Gravner wines, well, here is a companion, different, but in that serious, layered style. Lots of spice, lots of puckering tannin, lots of fresh and dried citrus going on. Awesome.
