This hits the spot. Richer than expected but with the coolness of both varieties, a really good dose of brown spice, purple fruit synesthesia, a juiciness with tugs of suede tannin lending shape and cleaning the palate up nicely. This is proper stuff, quietly complex, compelling for its array of fruit and savoury character, a long, trailing, spicy finish sealing the deal. You’re somewhere in the maze of streets of San Sebastian eating pintxos and sipping this from a tumbler and everything is so damn fine. Gun female winemaker Verity Cowley makes this happen.
