Maison Petit Roy AOP Bourgogne Savigny-les-Beaune Rouge 2022

Pinot noir from his small plot in the lieu-dit 'Les Planchots du nord'. Here the soils are clay and limestone. Whole bunch maceration, raised in old barrels for just over one year and then settled in tank for two months before bottling. Not fined or filtered, with only a small amount of sulfur added just before bottling.

Dark in appearance. Black cherry and plum on the nose, with violets and lots of exotic spice. Deep and hedonistic. Full palate with lots of extract. Smooth and supple, with very fine grainy tannins. The dark berry fruit is plush, but the wine is sleek. Medium acidity, lots of depth, and overall -  very sophisticated. Delicious and drinking well now. - Ryan Larkin, importer
