Rikard Chardonnay 2023

Wiradjuri Country.

Sees about 30% new oak. Orange chardonnay finding a good groove. It reminds me of winding back the clock and early days tasting chardonnay from the region, from the best producers. Not trying hard to push a style, just letting the fruit do its thing, and get some richness too.

Slurpy texture with a cut of glass shard acidity and briny veins. Nougat meets green apple, just-ripe nectarine, white flesh pear, some faint butterscotch but the trim of acidity works diligently, the wine a feast for the sense but refreshing in the same.
