Suau Sans Soufre Rouge 2019

 All cabernet franc and all organic and all just the fruit and zero additives. While a rare kind of approach in Bordeaux, there’s a quiet groundswell of alt-producers emerging as a nouveau garagiste movement. This is bright and refreshing as reds go, set to medium weight, set to stun. It’s red fruited, lashed with garrigue and dried herb characters, anise slips in, even a touch of game meat and beetroot. The texture is kind of shiny and silky then a laid back silty chew of tannin kicks in. There’s a follow through squeeze of blood orange and tart red berry fruitiness. What a coup.
