This is of Pyrenees origin and the variety called sangiovese. Snack. Who can forget Snak Pack of the 1980s as per this wonderful video of the ad. “If it wasn’t for a Snak Pack, a kid’d starve!”. I don’t think I recall eating any of it, but the ad is buried in my brain.

Frisky red, light and fresh, crunchy red currants, cherry, pomegranate juice and dashes of alpine herb and sweet spice. A little sooty note in the mix, some bitter amaro-like blood orange qualities too. It all stacks up, it does the trick, this is an easy, vibrant, chillable red style of the highest order.
