Whip Wines Merlove 2024

Aaron Fenwick from a Vine Vale merlot from a vineyard that’s been ‘just farmed’, aka organic farmed since inception. Two day foot stomp on fruit, especially hard on second day, leaning into the Choose Your Own Adventure of is it rose, is it light red, is it chillable, is it room temperature worthy… and bottled without sulphur.

Bright and fresh, tart cherry juice, cranberry, sour leaning with peaky, saline and white balsamic-edged acidity, dried flowers, a touch of walnut paste through the finish with a proviso to drink, from my seat, colder and quicker. It’s pretty straightforward, energetic, unadorned. It feels good. - The Wine Front
